Admission of observers from international and national non-governmental organizations
Observers from non-governmental organizations may participate in the meeting provided that they have received an invitation from the Chairman of the Animals Committee, which they should provide to the Secretariat upon registration at the meeting venue.
Registration fees for non-governmental organizations: USD 100 per person. Payments can be made as follows:

Currency
The local currency is the South African Ram (R). USD 1 = R 6.65 as at 15.1.04.
Lunch
There are several restaurants at the venue.
Transportation
The Management Authority of South Africa is organizing a bus service in the morning and afternoon from the hotels to the meeting venue. Participants will be charged for this service. The hotels also have shuttle services. The participants can take the shuttle to the hotel upon arrival at the airport. The venue is about 5km from the airport (the shuttle service from the Holiday Inn, Johannesburg International Airport, is USD 4.50 per person per trip).
Climate
It will be the beginning of autumn, so temperatures will be very mild. Average daily minimum: 14 degrees Celsius. Average daily maximum: 25 degrees Celsius.
Drinking water
Tap water is safe to drink. If you prefer, bottled water is readily available.
Safety and security
As in many large cities, normal travel precautions should be taken for personal security and safety of valuables. It is not advised to walk alone at night, and care should still be taken in the daytime. Avoid wearing/carrying valuables.
