The 22nd meeting of the Animals Committee will be held in Lima,
Peru, from 7 to 13 July 2006. On 7 and 8 July, the meeting will
be held jointly with the 16th meeting of the Plants Committee.

The provisional agenda
of the meeting is now available on this site. Parties that wish
to be represented by observers should return the registration
form to the Secretariat no later than 16 June 2006.
Registration can also be done with the on-line
form.
Observers from non-governmental organizations (NGOs) may participate
in this meeting at the invitation of the Chairman. The Procedure
for the admission of observers from NGOs to meetings of the
CITES Animals Committee provides information on the requirements
for NGOs to receive an invitation from the Chairman. The Invitation
request for NGOs form should be sent to the Chairman at the
address indicated above at least 45 days before the meeting, that
is by 23 May 2006. The Secretariat wishes to remind observers
from NGOs that they should send the Registration form, together
with a copy of the letter of invitation from the Chairman, at
least 30 days before the meeting, that is no later than 7 June
2006.
All observers who wish to benefit from the pre-booked hotel
rooms should send the completed Hotel
booking and visa assistance form to the Management Authority
of Peru no later than 23 June 2006. Pre-booked rooms will not
be guaranteed after this date.
The Secretariat reminds participants that they may require visas.

Participants who require assistance in obtaining an entry visa
for Peru should complete the visa section on the Hotel booking
and visa assistance form and return it to the Management Authority
of Peru together with a copy of their passport.
Participants may submit documents for discussion at the meeting
in accordance with Rules 15 and 16 of the Rules of Procedure of
the Animals Committee. Documents must be provided to the Secretariat
at least 60 days before the meeting, that is by 8 May 2006. Documents
received after this date can not be translated. Documents submitted
should not exceed 12 pages.
Documents for the meeting will be placed on this website as
they become available. Printed copies of all documents available
will be sent to members and alternate members of the Animals Committee
by 28 May 2006. The Secretariat will also provide copies by post
or by email to any pre-registered participant for the meeting
who requests them. However, in order to make savings on printing
costs, the Secretariat will not distribute sets of documents
at the meeting. Consequently, all participants are requested
to bring their own set.
