The 176th Party: Bahrain
The Secretariat is pleased to welcome Bahrain as the 176th Party to CITES.
Bahrain is an island country in the Middle East, situated near the western shores of the Persian Gulf. It is an archipelago of 33 islands, the largest being Bahrain Island.
Bahrain is home to over 40 species listed in the CITES Appendices, including humpbacked dolphin, Arabian oryx, dugong, dabb lizard, Arabian sand boa, whale shark, corals and many birds of prey. CITES trade with Bahrain comprises mainly live birds.
The Convention will enter into force for Bahrain on 17 November 2012.
