Notification to the Parties

DOMINICAN REPUBLIC
 

Hunting Ban

 
1. The Management Authority of the Dominican Republic has informed the Secretariat of the enactment of decreto Nr. 32-87 under which any activities of capturing, killing, mutilation or keeping of wild animals, as well as collection of eggs, nest and feathers, have been banned for a period of five years on all the national territory from 14 January 1987, except for species listed in Article 2 of the decree (see copy attached).
   
2. The Management Authority of the Dominican Republic also informed the Secretariat that, consequently, all exports of wild fauna species is considered illegal, except specimens bred in a ranch or in captivity for which an authorization of the Management Authority is needed.
   
3. In addition and although no specific legal provision exists for wild plants, the above-mentioned provisions applicable to wild animals are considered as also applicable to wild flora.
   
4. Accordingly, all the Parties are kindly requested to take this information into account and to help the Dominican Republic to implement Decreto Nr. 32-87 of 14 January 1987.
