NOTIFICATION TO THE PARTIES No. 687 Lausanne, 24 August 1992 CONCERNING: APPENDICES I, II AND III Corrections 1.Since the publication of Appendices I, II and III to the Convention as amended at the eighth meeting of the Conference of the Parties (see Notification to Contracting and Signatory States of the Convention dated 24 April 1992), the Secretariat has been informed that the appendices, as published, omitted some changes generated by the adoption, through Resolution Conf. 8.18, of Distribution and Taxonomy of Birds of the World (Charles G. Sibley and Burt L. Monroe, Jr, 1990, Yale University Press) as the standard reference to the genus and species names of birds. 2.These changes are the following: Ä Cyanoramphus cookii is included in Appendix I with the annotation "Also referenced as Cyanoramphus novaezelandiae cookii"; Ä Pitta nympha replaces in Appendix II Pitta brachyura nympha, with the annotation "Also referenced as Pitta brachyura nympha"; Ä Agelaius flavus replaces in Appendix III Xanthopsar flavus, with the annotation "Also referenced as Xanthopsar flavus"; Ä Serinus canicapillus replaces in Appendix III Serinus gularis, with the annotation "Also referenced as Serinus gularis (in part)". 3.To avoid additional difficulties, the above annotations are numbered without changing the numbers of the annotations existing in the appendices communicated on 24 April 1992. 4.The Secretariat takes this opportunity to inform the Parties that the species "Bostrichya rara" in Appendix III should read "Bostrychia rara". 5.Revised pages of Appendices I, II and III are attached herewith. 6.The Secretariat expresses its regrets for the omissions and any resulting inconvenience.
