NOTIFICATION TO THE PARTIES

CONCERNING:


                     Specific Reservations


1.The  Depositary  Government  informed  the  Secretariat  on   7
  February 1992 of the withdrawal by Japan, effective 31  January
  1992,  of its specific reservations with regard to Lepidochelys
  olivacea,  Varanus bengalensis and Varanus flavescens  included
  in Appendix I.

2.The  Depositary  Government  informed  the  Secretariat  on  12
  February  1992  of  the withdrawal by Singapore,  effective  15
  February  1992,  of its specific reservations  with  regard  to
  Caiman crocodilus crocodilus included in Appendix II.

3.The  above  information  was  communicated  officially  to  the
  contracting  or  signatory States of the Convention  through  a
  Notification from the Swiss Government (Depositary) on 6  March
  1992.

4.The  Depositary Government informed the Secretariat on 15  June
  1992  that  Liechtenstein and Switzerland had entered  specific
  reservations,  effective  11 June  1992,  with  regard  to  the
  transfer  from  Appendix II to Appendix I of  Discocactus  spp.
  (the  reservation  does  not,  however,  apply  to  Discocactus
  horstii),   Melocactus   conoideus,  Melocactus   deinacanthus,
  Melocactus  glaucescens  and Melocactus  paucispinus,  transfer
  decided  at the eighth meeting of the Conference of the Parties
  (Kyoto, 1992).

5.The  information  under 4. was communicated officially  to  the
  contracting  or  signatory States of the Convention  through  a
  Notification from the Swiss Government (Depositary) on 20  July
  1992.

6.The  Depositary Government informed the Secretariat on 31  July
  1992  of  the withdrawal by Canada, effective 29 July 1992,  of
  all  its  specific reservations regarding species  included  in
  Appendix  III at the request of India, i.e. Vulpes bengalensis,
  V.  vulpes  griffithi,  V. v. montana, V.  v.  pusilla,  Martes
  flavigula,  M. prima intermedia, Mustela altaica,  M.  erminea,
  M. kathiah and M. sibirica.
7.The  information  under 6. will be communicated  officially  to
  the  contracting or signatory States of the Convention  through
  a Notification from the Swiss Government (Depositary).

8.A  revised  edition  of the "Specific Reservations  Entered  by
  Parties" valid as of 29 July 1992 is attached herewith.
