NOTIFICATION TO THE PARTIES No. 721 Lausanne, 14 January 1993 CONCERNING: Twenty-ninth Meeting of the Standing Committee 1. On behalf of Mr M. Hosking (New Zealand), Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Conference of the Parties, the Secretariat has the honour to inform the Parties that the twenty-ninth meeting of the Standing Committee is scheduled to be held from 1 to 5 March 1993 in Washington, D. C., United States of America. 2. The provisional Agenda of the twenty-ninth meeting of the Standing Committee is as follows: 1. Opening remarks by the Chairman and CITES Secretary General 2. Adoption of the Agenda 3. New criteria for amendment of the appendices a) Consideration of the first draft of the new criteria b) Follow-up 4. Review of the Resolutions of the Conference of the Parties a) Repealed resolutions b) Resolutions that the Secretariat proposes be repealed (wholly or in part) c) Other types of decisions of the Conference of the Parties d) Follow-up 5. Fifth Periodic Report of the Secretariat on Achievements during 1992 in pursuance of the specific objectives formulated by decisions of the seventh and eighth meetings of the Conference of the Parties and the 21st meeting of the Standing Committee 7. Any other business 19. Closing remarks 3. Parties that are members of the Standing Committee have been convened to attend its twenty-ninth meeting. Other Parties are invited to participate as observers. It would be appreciated if Parties that intend to participate and that need hotel reservations would inform the Secretariat accordingly as soon as possible. The Secretariat is, however, unable to provide any financial assistance. 4. The Government of the United States of America generously offered to host this meeting in Washington, D. C. to coincide with the celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the signing of CITES, which took place in the US capital on 3 March 1973.
