CONCERNING:


          Ninth Meeting of the Conference of the Parties

                      Provisional Deadlines


1.The  negotiations between the Secretariat and the Government  of
  the United States of America regarding the time and venue of the
  ninth meeting of the Conference of the Parties have not yet been
  finalized.

2.It  is  almost certain that the meeting will be held in Florida,
  and the earliest possible date is 7-18 November 1994.

3.On  the  basis  of this information, the Secretariat  wishes  to
  inform the Parties of the following deadlines for the submission
  of  documents, draft resolutions and proposals for amendment  of
  Appendices I and II:

                   12   December   1993:    Ž      Submission   of
                   proposals pursuant to Resolution Conf. 3.15  on
                   Ranching
                        Ž    Submission of proposals for amendment
                   of  Appendices I and II by Parties which do not
                   intend  to consult range States of the  species
                   in   question  [ref.  Resolution  Conf.   8.21,
                   recommendation b)]

                   31   December   1993:    Ž      Submission   of
                   proposals for Agenda items

                   10  June 1994:  Ž    Submission of the text  of
                   any draft resolutions and any working documents
                   (ref. Resolution Conf. 4.6)
                        Ž    Submission of proposals for amendment
                   of Appendix I or II, other than those mentioned
                   above.

4.The  above deadlines might be postponed, depending on the  final
  decision regarding the time of the ninth meeting.

5.As  soon  as  the  final decision is made, the Parties  will  be
  officially invited to participate in the meeting and informed of
  the  definitive deadlines. As usual, this will be  done  through
  the   diplomatic   channel,  with  a  copy  to  the   Management
  Authorities.
