No. 800 Geneva, 21 April 1994 CONCERNING: Significant Trade in Animal Species Included in Appendix II Recommendations of the Standing Committee 1.The Secretariat has received information from the Management Authorities of Cameroon, Ghana and Guinea relating to their implementation of the recommendations of the Animals Committee on significant levels of trade in Psittacus erithacus, Python regius and Psittacus erithacus, respectively. Having discussed this information with the Chairman of the Animals Committee, the Secretariat is satisfied that there is no further action to be taken by these Parties to implement these recommendations. Accordingly, the Standing Committee's recommendations to the Parties to suspend imports of specimens of Psittacus erithacus from Cameroon and Guinea and specimens of Python regius from Ghana are hereby withdrawn. 2.There remain 12 States that have not implemented the recommendations of the Animals Committee made in 1992 in accordance with Resolution Conf. 8.9. The States concerned are listed in paragraph 3 below. 3.The Standing Committee recommends to all Parties that they suspend imports, from each State listed below, of specimens of the species indicated for that State until it has implemented the relevant primary or secondary recommendations of the Animals Committee: Argentina Lama guanicoe (However, the suspension does not apply to specimens that form part of the registered stock in Argentina, provided that the permits are confirmed by the Secretariat before being accepted by the country of import.) Azerbaijan Felis lynx China Felis bengalensis and Ptyas mucosus India Rana tigerina and Rana hexadactyla Indonesia Cacatua sulphurea and Ptyas mucosus Latvia Felis lynx Lithuania Felis lynx Peru Aratinga erythrogenys Republic of Moldova Felis lynx TogoPython regius Ukraine Felis lynx United Republic of Tanzania Agapornis fischeri and Malacochersus tornieri. 4.Resolution Conf. 8.9 gives to the CITES Secretariat the responsibility to determine whether the recommendations of the Animals Committee have been implemented. The Secretariat will therefore notify the Parties as soon as the relevant recommendations have been implemented by each of the above States. 5.The present Notification replaces Notification to the Parties No. 775 of 23 November 1993.
