No. 808 Geneva, 10 June 1994 CONCERNING: PHILIPPINES Prohibition of Export of Wild-caught Birds and Macaca fascicular is 1.The Management Authority of the Philippines has informed the Secretariat that, from 15 February 1994, the collection in the wild of birds of species included in the CITES appendices, and the export of such birds from the Philippines, have been prohibited. 2.The Management Authority of the Philippines has also informed the Secretariat that it is phasing out the export of wild- caught specimens of Macaca fascicularis. From 15 February 1994, the capture of these monkeys in the wild has not been allowed and the Philippines has not permitted the export of wild-caught Macaca fascicularis except for legally obtained specimens already held in stock on that date. The Management Authority has verified the stocks and issued tattoo codes to be used. Export permits for the wild-caught animals in stock will continue to be issued up to 16 August 1994 and will specify the codes used on the animals. After this date, the Management Authority will authorize the export of captive-bred specimens only.
