No. 819 Geneva, 25 August 1994 CONCERNING: PHILIPPINES Prohibition of Export of Wild-caught Animals 1. Further to the issuance of Notification to the Parties No. 808, of 10 June 1994, the Management Authority of the Philippines has provided the clarifications that follow. 2. The prohibition of the export of wild-caught specimens is not limited to birds and monkeys but covers all wild fauna. Only specimens bred in captivity by breeders authorized and registered by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), the CITES Management Authority for terrestrial wildlife, may be exported. This restriction has applied since 15 February 1994. 3. The export of wild-caught Macaca fascicularis held in stock by permittees and duly registered by the DENR was allowed until 16 August 1994. Since then, export has been allowed only of captive-bred specimens from breeding operations with DENR Wildlife Farm Permits. The capture of monkeys from the wild for breeding purposes, however, is still allowed on a limited basis under appropriate permit issued by the DENR.
