No. 842 Geneva, 18 April 1995 CONCERNING: ITALY Withdrawal of the Recommendation of the Standing Committee 1.By Notification to the Parties No. 722 of 19 February 1993, the Secretariat communicated the decision of the Standing Committee to suspend its recommendation, made at its 28th meeting, that all Parties adopt stricter domestic measures in accordance with Article XIV, paragraph 1, of the Convention in order not to issue any CITES documents for specimens consigned to Italy or accept any CITES documents issued by Italy (see Notification to the Parties No. 675 of 30 June 1992). 2.The withdrawal of the recommendation remained subject to the adoption by the Italian Parliament of an amended law for implementing the Convention and to the adequate application of the procedures adopted. 3.During its 35th meeting, held in Geneva from 21 to 24 March 1995, the Standing Committee, following the presentation of a report from the Secretariat, taking into consideration the significant progress that had been made by Italy to implement and enforce the Convention and the high standards of achievement reached by this country, decided to withdraw the recommendation. 4.The present Notification repeals Notifications to the Parties Nos. 675 of 30 June 1992 and 722 of 19 February 1993.
