No. 851 Geneva, 18 April 1995 CONCERNING: ICPO-Interpol, the ECO-MESSAGE 1.The ICPO-Interpol Working Party on Environmental Crime has decided to create a special database within the general database of ICPO-Interpol. 2.In order to increase the effectiveness of this special database, a special form has been prepared called the ECO-MESSAGE. It will eventually be used for all communication between the National Central Bureaux (NCB) of Interpol and the ICPO-Interpol General Secretariat concerning crime involving international trade in and transport of dangerous goods, nuclear waste and wild fauna and flora. 3.The general assembly of ICPO-Interpol has approved the use of the ECO-MESSAGE. 4.A copy of this form is attached to this notification. The Secretariat would like to encourage every Management Authority to use this form to communicate with the NCB of their country and to ensure that their NCB uses it to communicate as much information as possible to the ICPO-Interpol General Secretariat. 5.The Secretariat would like to emphasize that the ECO-MESSAGE may be used to communicate information to the ICPO-Interpol General Secretariat only through the NCB of each country. If the national legislation does not preclude it, the CITES Secretariat would like to receive copies of all forms sent from a Management Authority to an NCB.
