No. 861 Geneva, 18 May 1995 CONCERNING: Meeting of the Animals Committee 1.The Secretariat has the honour to inform the Parties that the Animals Committee will meet in Antigua Guatemala, Guatemala, from 11 to 14 September 1995. Antigua Guatemala is 45 to 50 minutes from the international airport of Guatemala City. The Secretariat will provide all necessary information relating to transportation from the airport to Antigua at a later stage. 2.The Parties* that wish to receive information on the main topics that will be dealt with in the said meeting should contact the Chairman of the Animals Committee at the following address: Mr R.W.G. Box 636 CANBERRA, ACT 2601 Australia Telephone: (6162) 500392 Telefax: (6162) 500243 *The Parties that wish to include specific items on the Agenda of the meeting must send their request to the Chairman of the Committee before 31 July 1995. 3.Non-Party states and non-governmental observer organizations that wish to participate in the said meeting are reminded that they need to receive prior approval of the Chairman of the Committee and that they will have to pay a registration fee of USD 80. The payment may be made either by cheque to the Secretariat or to the Chairman of the Animals Committee, before the start of the meeting. 4.The Management Authority of Guatemala has negociated a special hotel rate of USD 87/ person/day for the participants in the meeting with the Hotel Antigua 8a. Calle Poniente No. 1 Antigua Guatemala Guatemala Telephone: (5022) 320331; 320288 Telefax: (5022) 320807 This price includes accommodation (single room with bath) and three meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner), as well as the refreshments served at breaks during the whole duration of the meeting. 5.The meeting will take place in the conference room of the above- mentioned hotel. 6.The participants should inform the Chairman of the Animals Committee of their intention to participate in the meeting, and book their rooms direct with the hotel, mentioning the "Reuni¢n Comit‚ de Fauna + CONAP (Consejo Nacional de Areas Protegidas)". 7.Information concerning visas will be provided at a later stage. 8.Due to the fact that neither the Secretariat nor the Animals Committee has financial means to provide simultaneous interpretation services in the two other working languages of the Convention, the meeting will take place in English. However, the representative of the Secretariat will, as he did for previous meetings, act as interpreter for the Spanish- speaking participants who do not understand English. As it is very likely that representatives from Spanish-speaking countries will attend the meeting, the Secretariat strongly encourages bilingual participants to assist it in this difficult task. 9.The Management Authorities are kindly requested to inform their respective Scientific Authorities of this Notification.
