No. 865 Geneva, 12 July 1995 CONCERNING: Inventory of Vicu¤a Wool 1.The Conference of the Parties, during its ninth meeting, in Fort Lauderdale, United States of America, 1994, approved the transfer to Appendix II of the Peruvian populations of vicu¤a that had not yet been transferred to this Appendix, under the conditions described in annotation 0504 of the Interpretation section of Appendices I and II, valid from 16 February 1995. 2.The annotation in question says: "0504 For the exclusive purpose of allowing international trade in wool sheared from live vicu¤as of the populations included in Appendix II (see +210) and in the extant stock in Peru of 3249 kg of wool, and in cloth and items made thereof ..." 3.The Management Authority of Peru carried out an inventory of the stocks from 13 to 15 March 1995, with the participation of Mr Hern n Torres, President of the IUCN/SSC Specialist Group on South American Camelidae, who represented the Secretariat. 4.The report sent to the Secretariat by the CITES Management Authority of Peru is attached, without its annexes. The Secretariat has translated the enclosed report from Spanish into the other working languages of the Convention. 5.The Secretariat takes this opportunity to remind the importing countries that have not yet informed it of their stocks of vicu¤a wool and/or cloth to do so as soon as possible.
