No. 945 Geneva, 18 November 1996 CONCERNING: CAMEROON Export of Psittacus erithacus in Excess of the Quota 1.As indicated in Notification to the Parties No. 916 of 20 June 1996, Cameroon has established an annual export quota of 12,000 specimens of Psittacus erithacus for 1996. 2.The Secretariat has verified that the number of specimens of Psittacus erithacus for which the Management Authority of Cameroon has issued export permits has exceeded the quota for 1996 by at least 2,000 specimens. 3.The Secretariat has repeatedly contacted the Management Authority of Cameroon about this but has not received any satisfactory explanation for the apparent excess. 4.Therefore the Secretariat recommends to Parties to reject all permits from Cameroon for export of specimens of Psittacus erithacus and to send it copies of any such permits that are presented for import. 5.The Secretariat requests the Parties to confirm with the Secretariat the validity of re-export certificates for specimens of Psittacus erithacus that are issued on the basis of export permits from Cameroon.
