Notification to the Parties

CONCERNING:

Identification Manual Committee

1. The Conference of the Parties has resolved, in Resolution Conf. 9.1 (Rev.) Annex 4, to re-establish the Identification Manual Committee, that the membership of the Committee shall be "on a voluntary basis" and that the Chairman and Vice-Chairman shall be elected by the Committee.

2. At its 10th meeting, the Conference of the Parties took a different approach and appointed a new Chairwoman and Vice-Chairman of the Identification Manual Committee, as follows:

3. The Chairwoman and Vice-Chairman of the Identification Manual Committee will be contacting suitably qualified persons to establish the membership of the Committee. The Management Authorities of the Parties are of course welcome to make suggestions to them.

4. The Secretariat takes this opportunity to remind the Parties whose proposals to amend Appendices I and II have been accepted by the Conference of the Parties that, in accordance with Resolution Conf. 9.1 (Rev.), the Identification Manual Committee should obtain from them the information to be included in the Identification Manual for these species. The Chairwoman of the Committee will be contacting the Parties concerned to seek this information.
