Notification to the Parties

CONCERNING:

Specific Reservations

1. The Depositary Government has informed the Secretariat of the following.

a) On 20 March 1997, Zambia withdrew its reservation against the inclusion of Loxodonta africana in Appendix I of the Convention.

b) On 6 June 1997, Sweden entered, pursuant to Article XVI, paragraph 2, of the Convention, reservations with respect to the following species included in Appendix III:

Vulpes vulpes griffithi
Vulpes vulpes montana
Vulpes vulpes pusilla
Mustela erminea ferghanae.

c) On 17 September 1997, Zimbabwe withdrew its reservation against the inclusion of Loxodonta africana in Appendix I of the Convention.

d) On 18 September 1997, Botswana and Namibia withdrew their reservations against the inclusion of Loxodonta africana in Appendix I of the Convention.

2. The above information was communicated officially to the contracting and signatory States of the Convention through Notifications from the Swiss Government (Depositary) dated 26 March 1997 (regarding Zambia), 20 June 1997 (regarding Sweden) and 26 September 1997 (regarding Botswana, Namibia and Zimbabwe).

3. A revised version of the Specific Reservations Entered by Parties, valid from 18 September 1997, is attached to this Notification.
