Notification to the Parties

CONCERNING:

Nomenclature Committee

1. The Conference of the Parties has resolved, in Resolution Conf. 9.1 (Rev.) Annex 5, to re-establish the Nomenclature Committee, that the membership of the Committee shall be "on a voluntary basis" and that the Chairman and Vice-Chairman shall be elected by the Committee.

2. At its 10th meeting, the Conference of the Parties took a different approach and appointed a new Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Nomenclature Committee, as follows:

3. The Chairman is responsible for the subcommittee dealing with the nomenclature of fauna and the Vice-Chairman is responsible for the subcommittee dealing with flora.

4. The Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Nomenclature Committee will be contacting persons suitably qualified in taxonomic matters to establish the membership of the Committee. The Management Authorities and Scientific Authorities of the Parties are of course welcome to make suggestions to them.
