Notification to the Parties

CONCERNING:

Information relating to Interpol and the World Customs Organization

1. On 1 and 2 March 1998, the United Kingdom hosted a European Union Wildlife Law Enforcement Workshop in London. During the workshop, presentations were made on a variety of topics relating to wildlife crime and enforcement.

2. Representatives of Interpol and the World Customs Organization described their work, particularly that relating to enforcement of CITES. Representatives of members of the CITES Standing Committee were present at the event and later encouraged the Secretariat to circulate the full presentations to all Parties.

3. The Secretariat has obtained copies and is pleased to distribute them as attachments to this Notification to the Parties. The presentation by the World Customs Organization is available in English and French, whilst the presentation by Interpol is available in English only.
