Notification to the PartiesNo. 1999/42 Geneva, 31 May 1999
CONCERNING:
Certificates of origin for trade in Swietenia macrophylla
1. This Notification replaces Notification to the Parties No. 1998/15 of 27 April 1998.
2. The reason for replacing the previous Notification is to inform the Parties of a change in the certificates of origin used by Venezuela.
3. The Secretariat has received the following information on the use of certificates of origin for the trade in Swietenia macrophylla.
Belize:
A copy of the certificate that will be used has already been sent to the Parties (see Notification to the Parties No. 903 of 28 February 1996).
Nicaragua:
An export quota of 12,000 m3 was established in 1995. As the use of a special certificate of origin was not mentioned, the Secretariat assumes that the usual CITES permit form will be used (see Notification to the Parties No. 890 of 30 November 1995).
Venezuela:
The usual permit form will be used, marked as 'Certificate of Origin' in the appropriate box.
