GENERAL INFORMATION
MKI Travel & Conference Management Inc. has been appointed by the CITES Secretariat to manage and facilitate the following Conference logistics:
- Hotel Accommodation in Nairobi
- Nairobi Airport Transfers
- Daily bus transportation between "Conference Hotels" and Gigiri Conference Center
- Travel for all Secretariat sponsored Delegates
A team from MKI visited Nairobi in August 1999, and selected the Hotels listed in this brochure as "Conference Hotels" for the CITES COP11. The selection was made based on a combination of price, location, facilities and security. All rates are quoted in US$ and are per room, not including 10% hotel service charge, 2% tourism levy or 13% VAT.
Please consult the "Accommodation Request Form" for booking conditions and visit the MKI web-site http://www.mkitravel.com/conference/citescop11 for further information, or to make your hotel reservation via secure, electronic booking form.
Attention Secretariat sponsored Delegates: Please do NOT complete and send the Accommodation Request Form, as
Accommodation will automatically be confirmed together with the travel arrangements.
Country Delegation Bookings only
- MKI will accept tentative reservations without deposits and individual names.
- Please contact MKI by e-mail or fax to reserve your block of rooms. These bookings will have to be finalized by the end of February 2000 and individual names of Delegation Members have to be advised by March 15, 2000.
Suites and Meeting Rooms
- Any Delegation or Organization requiring special suites or meeting rooms, please contact MKI for information. Meeting room rates are quite reasonable in most Nairobi Hotels.
Local Transportation and Tours
MKI has selected TOBS KENYA GOLF SAFARIS as the local ground operator. Tobs will be facilitating and coordinating the airport transfers, daily bus transfers to/from Gigiri and offer tours to Delegates through a dedicated web-site http://www.tobstours.com for bookings in advance (as of 15 October 99), and on-site at the "Conference Hotels". Please note, the weekend following the COP is Easter. It is strongly recommended to book any tours for that weekend well in advance.
A "CITES DELEGATES" courtesy desk will be set up at Nairobi Airport. Delegates will be able to have transfers to their hotels arranged immediately after arrival at a cost of US$15.00 per person. Please have this amount with you in cash. It is NOT recommended to take taxis.
Daily bus transfers (except for April 16) will operate between the "Conference Hotels" and Gigiri, starting Sunday, April 09. Delegates will be able to purchase a bus pass for US$75.00 for the duration of the Conference, or a daily pass for US$10.00. These passes, as well as the schedule, will be available at the "CITES" desks, set up in each of the "Conference Hotels".
