Notifications to the Parties

CONCERNING:

Appendices I and II and Appendix III

1. With Notification to the Parties No. 2000/034, of 15 June 2000, the Secretariat transmitted to the Management Authorities of the Parties a revised version of Appendices I and II of the Convention, incorporating the amendments required as a result of decisions adopted at the 11th meeting of the Conference of the Parties. With the same Notification, the Secretariat transmitted a revised version of Appendix III of the Convention, including two newly listed species.

2. Following the issuance of Notification to the Parties No. 2000/034, it emerged that not all the amendments adopted had been correctly incorporated in Appendices I and II. The Secretariat deeply regrets this mistake. Moreover, additional information was received regarding changes to the nomenclature of some taxa, leading to a need to amend certain nomenclatural annotations. These also affect Appendix III. The Secretariat has therefore reprinted Appendices I and II and Appendix III with corrections.

3. The corrections affect the following sections of Appendices I and II:

a) the following annotations:

-112, -114, +219, =331, =348, =353, =417, =439, =460, =473

b) the listings of the following taxa:

Balaenoptera bonaerensis in Appendix I

Rhea pennata pennata in Appendix II

Apalone ater in Appendix I

Loxocemidae and Tropidophiidae in Appendix II

ACIPENSERIFORMES spp. in Appendix II (species listed separately have been deleted)

Aphonopelma albiceps, Aphonopelma pallidum and Brachypelmides klaasi in Appendix II (referred to in annotation =417 in the Appendices valid until 19 July 2000)

Araucaria araucana in Appendices I and II

4. The corrections affect the following sections of Appendix III:

a) the following annotations:

=4553 to =4593

b) the listings of the following species of Viperidae:

Atropoides nummifer, Bothriechis schlegelii, Daboia russellii, Porthidium nasutum and Porthidium ophryomegas.

5. Copies of Appendices I and II valid from 19 July 2000 and of Appendix III valid from 13 September 2000, reprinted with the necessary corrections, are enclosed with the present Notification.
