Notification to the Parties

CONCERNING:

Control of operations that artificially propagate specimens of
Appendix-I species for commercial purposes

1. Pursuant to Resolution Conf. 9.19, the Secretariat communicated with Notification to the Parties No. 1999/08, of 29 January 1999, a recapitulatory list of operations that artificially propagate specimens of Appendix-I plant species for commercial purposes. A continuation of this list was distributed with Notification to the Parties No. 2000/024 of 23 March 2000. These Notifications are now cancelled.

2. The Secretariat herewith transmits to the Parties a complete current Register of operations that artificially propagate specimens of Appendix-I species for commercial purposes. The Secretariat does not intend to distribute further recapitulatory lists, as it has in the past. Rather, it will distribute new or replacement pages relating to each Party that has provided information for inclusion in the Register.

3. The Parties are reminded that, in accordance with Resolution Conf. 9.19 [under RESOLVE, paragraph b)], "any Management Authority that wishes to register any commercial nursery artificially propagating specimens of species included in Appendix I for export purposes shall provide to the Secretariat, for inclusion in its Register, all appropriate information to obtain and maintain the registration of each such nursery".
