Geneva, 9 August 2002
|
CONCERNING:
ZAMBIA
Withdrawal of suspension of import of leopard hunting trophies and skins
1. In Notification to the Parties No. 2002/038 of 24 June 2002 the Secretariat reminded the Parties that Resolution Conf. 10.14 (Quotas for leopard hunting trophies and skins for personal use) directs the Secretariat to recommend to the Parties to suspend imports of leopard hunting trophies and skins from any country that is granted an annual quota under the Resolution and that has not met the reporting requirement, after checking with the range State concerned that the report has not been submitted.
2. Since Malawi and Zambia had not met the requirements, the Secretariat recommended that Parties suspend imports of leopard hunting trophies and skins from Malawi and Zambia until further notice.
3. Zambia has subsequently submitted a report regarding the export of leopard hunting trophies and skins and the Secretariat hereby notifies the Parties that its recommendation to suspend import of trophies and skins from Zambia is withdrawn.
4. However, the recommendation to suspend imports of leopard hunting trophies and skins from Malawi remains in effect.
5. This Notification repeals Notification to the Parties No. 2002/038 of 24 June 2002.
