Notification to the Parties

CONCERNING:

Control of operations that breed Appendix-I species
in captivity for commercial purposes

1. The Secretariat intends to include the attached information concerning captive-breeding operations in Malaysia, Thailand and Viet Nam in the Register of operations that breed Appendix-I species in captivity for commercial purposes. These operations breed species that are already included in the Secretariat’s Register.

2. In accordance with the provisions of Resolution Conf. 11.14, Annex 2, paragraph 1 b), the Secretariat will provide full information on the operations referred to in paragraph 1 above to any Party that requests it (in the language in which the applications were provided).

3. In accordance with the provisions of Resolution Conf. 11.14, Annex 2, paragraph 3 and 4, the operations listed in the attachment to this Notification will be included in the Register 90 days after the date of this Notification unless the Secretariat receives an objection from a Party. If any Party objects to the registration, the Secretariat shall facilitate a dialogue with the Management Authority of the Party submitting the application and allow a further 60 days for resolution of the identified problem(s). If the objection is not withdrawn or the identified problem(s) not resolved, the application shall be postponed until it is decided by a two-thirds majority vote at the following meeting of the Conference of the Parties, or by postal procedures equivalent to those set forth in Article XV of the Convention.
