No. 2002/067
Geneva, 19 December 2002

Notification to the Parties

CONCERNING:

MALAWI

Withdrawal of the recommendation to suspend imports
of leopard hunting trophies and skins

1. In Notification to the Parties Nos. 2002/038 and 2002/050, of 24 June 2002 and 9 August 2002, the Secretariat recommended to the Parties that they should not accept imports of leopard hunting trophies and skins from Malawi since it had not submitted the reports required by Resolution Conf. 10.14 (Quotas for leopard hunting trophies and skins for personal use).

2. During the 12th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (Santiago, 3-15 November 2002), Resolution Conf. 10.14 was amended to delete the requirement for the submission of special reports by those leopard range States with hunting quotas.

3. Consequently, the recommendation for a suspension of imports of leopard hunting trophies and skins from Malawi is no longer valid and is withdrawn with immediate effect.

4. This Notification replaces Notification to the Parties No. 2002/050.
