Stolen CITES franking stamp

1. A franking stamp belonging to the CITES Management Authority of Canada was reported stolen on 8 July 2003 in Surrey, British Columbia. The stamp was used to validate the CITES inventory attached to Canadian phytosanitary certificates for the export of artificially propagated plants. The oval-shaped stamp bears the following text:

Management Authority
Jean Robillard (facsimile signature)
CANADA
85
ORGANE DE GESTION

2. Parties are requested to check the stamp number on any Canadian CITES permits issued after 8 July 2003 that may be presented to them.

3. Permits bearing the signature of Jean Robillard but with a number other than 85 are still valid as well as all permits bearing the franking stamps of the provinces and territories.

4. Canada as well as the Secretariat would appreciate being informed of any Canadian CITES permits issued after 8 July 2003 and validated with stamp 85.
